Who can become a member?
The NAQ adopted a rigourous process regarding the accreditation of its members.
Adhesion to the NAQ is open to all natives, metis, non-status indians or status indians (Law C-31) living off-reserve in Quebec and who meet the following criteria:
- Be of aboriginal descendance (identity)
- To identify as such (pride)
- To be accepted by the community (belonging)
- If you wish to become a member of the NAQ, you must submit a request at a local assembly. Only those living in an isolated area can submit a request by correspondance with the provincial office or at one of our regional offices.
You must also provide genealogical documentation that proves your native ancestry. To find out more regarding the best way to proceed to find your ancestors, please consult the genealogy section.
